What if we looked beyond tallow and explored the traditional, nutrient-rich ingredients that have nourished generations?

That question helped inspire Alive & Unbroken and one of the most unique parts of our skincare philosophy:

LIVE CULTURES.

We're combining the richness of grass-fed & finished tallow with ingredients such as raw milk kefir, first-milking colostrum, whey, and raw Manuka honey in select formulas.

This isn't just another jar of tallow.

It's our interpretation of what ancestral skincare can become.

What Do We Mean by “Live Cultures”?

Most people hear cultures and immediately think of fermented foods like kefir and yogurt.

And that's exactly where part of our inspiration came from.

Traditional cultures have valued fermented and minimally processed foods for generations. We became fascinated by the idea of bringing that same ancestral philosophy into skincare.

Our Alive Tush Balm incorporates cultured dairy ingredients, including raw milk kefir, alongside first-milking colostrum, whey and our tallow-based formula.

It's one of the reasons we call it:

ALIVE.

First-Milking Colostrum

Colostrum is the first milk produced after birth.

It's naturally different from ordinary milk and contains a complex mixture of proteins, lipids and other naturally occurring components.

We were fascinated by this ancestral ingredient and wanted to explore its place in our approach to topical skincare.

It's not an ingredient you'll find in most conventional skincare aisles—and that's exactly the point.

We're not trying to formulate what everyone else is already making.

Raw Milk Kefir

Kefir has been traditionally cultured for generations.

Rather than looking only to the modern beauty industry for inspiration, we looked at ingredients humans have valued historically.

Our use of raw milk kefir represents that philosophy: taking inspiration from traditional cultured ingredients and thoughtfully incorporating them into a modern tallow-based balm.

Whey

Another ingredient you'll rarely see highlighted on the front of a skincare jar is whey.

Whey contains naturally occurring milk proteins and other components, and it fits naturally into our philosophy of exploring traditional animal-derived ingredients beyond tallow alone.

Together, kefir + colostrum + whey create an ingredient story that looks very different from conventional skincare.

And Then There's Raw Manuka Honey

Our ancestral philosophy isn't limited to dairy.

In select formulas, we also incorporate raw Manuka honey, an ingredient prized for its naturally occurring compounds and its moisturizing and skin-conditioning properties.

Honey has an extraordinary history of traditional use, which makes it a natural fit for a brand built around looking backward in order to create something new.

Tallow gives us an incredible foundation.

Alive isn't simply a catchy word on a label.

It represents the direction we're taking this company.

We want to challenge ourselves to think beyond highly processed, conventional skincare and explore ingredients rooted in tradition, fermentation, animal-based nourishment and ancestral wisdom.

We handcraft our products in small batches and continually explore how these ingredients can be thoughtfully incorporated into skincare.

We're not trying to create another moisturizer with a trendy label.
